This study focused on how infrared sauna therapy aids in detoxification for firefighters, who are at an elevated risk of cancer due to exposure to toxins from synthetic materials in fires. The use of a Chemical Detox Sauna at Fire Station 44 in Indianapolis was implemented to help firefighters sweat out harmful chemicals absorbed during their work, particularly after returning from a fire.

The results suggest that infrared sauna sessions can reduce toxin absorption, contributing to cancer prevention. By inducing sweat and increasing circulation, the sauna helps eliminate persistent contaminants that stick to the skin and can linger for days, offering a promising tool for reducing cancer risk in firefighters.
