In this study, researchers looked at how far infrared (IFR) therapy could help improve blood flow and heal damaged blood vessels in diabetic mice. They wanted to see if infrared light could help a special type of cell, called endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), which are important for repairing blood vessels. To test this, they exposed diabetic mice with blocked blood flow in their legs to infrared therapy for 30 minutes each day, five days a week, for five weeks. The results showed that the mice who received the infrared treatment had better blood flow in their legs, more new blood vessels, and improved circulation compared to the control group.

The study was conducted by Po-Hsun Huang, Jaw-Wen Chen, and their team from several institutions in Taiwan. They found that infrared therapy could help the body recover blood flow by improving the function of EPCs, which are essential for repairing blood vessels. This research suggests that infrared therapy, such as the type used in infrared saunas, could be a useful treatment for people with diabetes to help with circulation problems and tissue healing. It shows promise as a non-invasive way to support blood vessel health and improve blood flow.
