This study investigated the use of infrared sauna therapy to help firefighters detoxify by sweating out carcinogens absorbed during fires, which can lead to higher cancer rates. Firefighters in Madison, WI, began using infrared saunas, like those at Station 14, to mitigate the cancer risks they face due to exposure to toxins from burning synthetic materials.
The results indicate that infrared saunas aid in toxin removal, offering potential cancer prevention benefits. However, caution is advised to avoid dehydration, and the practice is integrated into the recovery period after firefighting.
